How to train the assistant: knowledge base

6 min · Start plan · Updated October 24, 2026

The AI assistant answers only from your data: website pages, files, texts and a product feed. The more complete the sources, the more accurate the answers.

What you need

  • Your website address or sitemap
  • Documents: price list, terms, FAQ — PDF, DOCX, TXT or MD up to 10 MB

1Add your website

Open AI agent → Sources → Add source → Website and enter the address. AirChat crawls the pages or the sitemap and adds the text to the knowledge base.

2Upload files and texts

Add documents that aren’t on the site: price list, contract, answers to frequent questions. Short facts are easiest to add as “Text” or “Q&A”.

If a PDF is a scan without a text layer, the text may not be extracted. A DOCX or a text PDF works better.

3Test the answers

In Playground ask the assistant your customers’ questions. If an answer is off, correct it — the correction is saved as a source.

Important. The assistant doesn’t make up facts: if the answer isn’t in the sources, it offers to contact a manager. Unanswered questions are collected in Unanswered.

Common issues

Not all of my website was added
Enter the sitemap instead of the home page, or add the sections you need as separate addresses. The page limit depends on your plan.
How do I add a product catalog?
Add a “Product feed” source in YML, Google XML or CSV — the assistant will recommend products by availability and price.
